Responsible for design,
configuration, debugging and integration of a Man-Machine interfaces to
/PLC-based control system for controlling moisture profile on a coated paper
liner machines. Developed graphic screens (Intouch Wonderware), PLC programming
(TI 545), operation manuals, CAD drawings, and SCADA systems integration, field
checkout and startup.
Chop Saw Automation

Warrenton, Oregon - Project Manager
Responsible for design, PLC based
controls system to optimize log cutting, sorting and sequencing of raw log into
lumber. Project included PLC code and process development. Installed on 24 hour
down.
Automatic Tail Threader for Paper Machine
Grays Harbor Paper Co., Hoquiam, Washington Project Engineer
Several
motors, conveyors, solenoids, limit switches and a AB PLC 5/25 processor were
added and programmed to facilitate the automatic threading of the tail end
section of a paper machine during start. Once threaded the conveyors would
shutdown and automatically move out of the way for access during operations.
Paper Mill Plant Instrument Engineer Projects

Responsible
for several projects through out the facility. Conversion, from acid to alkaline
papermaking project required development of complete P&ID, loop and location
drawings, specification sheets, installation of Honeywell TDC3000 process
control system. Replacement of a gas fired paper machine dryer, P&ID, loop
drawings, gas regulators, block valves, burner management, and Honeywell TDC3000
process control. Replaced existing controls and drive with CRT based operator
screen and Reliance DC drive tissue winder. Rebuilt re-pulpier, controls and
instrumentation.
Paper Machine Controls Modernization

Engineer
and design of paper machine wet-end stock preparation rebuild. Installation of
a Bailey distributed control system, retrofit of existing starters and the
addition of low and medium voltage substation.
New Paper Machine Layout

Detail
project electrical layout for feeders, starters, and equipment for new thermal
mechanical pulping line, 600TPD de-ink plant and paper machine.

International Paper Corp, Reedsport, Oregon Elect. Project Engineer
Responsible for several projects. AutoCAD Manager; purchasing, setup, update,
batch files, Lisp programs, training and user support. Paper machine winder
replacement; DC Drives, motors, control system, load center, transformer,
equipment and cabling layout. Precipitator rebuild on a Black Liquor Recovery
Boiler; addition of two new fields to an existing precipitator, a new
distribution transformer, load control center electrode replacement, and new
controls. Mill Wide Production and Recording System; a new computer room,
redundant HP-1000 computer system, 40 stations. Paper Machine Computer
replacement. Caustic plant optimization to increase production by 30%. Caliper control system for paper machine dry-end control.
Supervised the installation of a wastewater treatment facility at a 1000 TPD
Kraft pulp and paper mill. Instrumentation and electrical for two Black Liquor
Recovery Boilers, Evaporator set and Concentrator set. Non-Condensable Gas
system for burning of combustible gases.

Engineer Projects
Longview Fibre Company, Longview, Washington, Project Engineer
Projects included; Automated Wood Chip Stacker with 1500 feet of conveyors,
switching gates and Reclaim Pit fully automated and controlled by a Honeywell
ISSC Programmable Controller and had three redundant control points and moved
over 800 tons of chips per day. Barge Unloading Crane and conveyor system,
replaced a 13.8 kV transformer, revised and added new controls as required.
Installed variable speed paper machine fan pumps rated at 400 HP. Designed
a recovery boiler precipitator, electrode wrapper controller package.
